BOTOX
What is botox?
Botox is a purified toxin that is produced by a bacterium called Clostridium Botulinum, and it has been used for several years in the medical field to treat eyelid spasms and lazy eye syndrome.
What is botox used for in the salon?
After the mid 20's our skin loses natural collagen and elastin and fine lines and wrinkles start to appear, especially around our expression lines.
Botox is used in the salon for the removal of these fine lines, expression lines and wrinkles and is injected into the chosen area to relax the muscles preventing them from contracting, giving the skin a smooth appearance.
Which areas can be treated with Botox?
Botox is usually administered in the creases between the eyebrows, the frown lines on the forehead, crow's feet around the eyes, laughter lines, and lines around the mouth and chin.
When will I see the results of treatment?
For the first 24-48 hours some reddening and swelling of the skin may occur.
Normally a difference will be seen 3-4 days after treatment, and further improvement will be seen 7-21 days after treatment.
Is the Botox treatment permanent?
No, the treatment will relax the muscles and skin for approximately 3-6 months, as the Botox will be slowly broken down by the body. Further treatments will be required and studies have shown that the effects of treatments may last longer with repeated treatments.
